Welcome. This blog intends to tell the story of how I assembled a British sports car called the Caterham Seven in my garage. For those who are not familiar with the Seven, it is the direct descendent of the Lotus Seven from the 1950s and 60s, the seventh design by Colin Chapman who founded the Lotus car company. The Seven has always been available in kit form.
An order was placed in August 2007 with Caterham Cars and, in a streak of luck, the factory offered a September build date due to a cancellation--about two months early!
The goal is to have the car registered by the Forth of July, 2008. The date is symbolic as the vehicle is an expression of some of my greatest personal values, namely independence and personal freedom. More about the motivations for building a Seven later.
This blog is dedicated to the men who openly shared their Seven stories and their cars with me over the past year, and to Colin Chapman whose inspiration brought us great cars like the Seven and the Lotus Elise.
