This cluster of coolant hoses come from the rear of the engine bay to feed various places up front. One large hose connects the thermostat to the radiator. Two medium-size hoses connect the heater and thermostat to the submarine pipe. The smallest diameter hose connects the thermostat to the bleed nipple at the top of the radiator. The T-fitting in this small hose connects to the top of the expansion tank.
Edit: For aesthetics I have since moved the hoses, described in this post. The connections remain the same.
The image below shows the hoses at the rear of the engine bay. The yellow arrows highlight the S-shaped medium hose that brings hot water from the thermostat to the heater unit. Another returns water from the heater forward.
